Are you using Paytm? Then keep in mind these necessary Guidelines

Online transaction from platform such as Paytm

In the modern world with the increased usage of online payments method, the number of frauds being done online, have also increased.

The people performing this fraud are rarely the people with much technical knowledge, therefore, its a rare case when a person's online payment account gets literally hacked by someone without his own fault.

Hence, in most cases being careful keeps you 98% safe from such frauds who can steal all your hard work money from you account in just a few minutes.

In this post, we are going to discuss what are some of the simple guidelines that one should keep in mind while using any online transaction service or app like Paytm to avoid any kind of fraud.

What is Paytm?

Paytm is the leading online money transaction company of India whose founder is Vijay Shekhar Sharma.

Its usage by the people of India rapidly increased after the demonetisation of the currency notes of 500 and 1,000 rupees announced by the Indian government on 8 November 2016.

It allows you to pay bills, book flight tickets, movie tickets and do many other things. With the help of this, you can do almost every money-related work.

It also provides you with the facility of buying goods from its app through the Paytm mall section itself or you can download a separate app for it. The products provided here are fair but for products, in some categories, you'll find products with an extremely low customer star rating as well as bad reviews.

You can also earn free Paytm cash through other apps in the market or play games in the Paytm app itself and earn money.

When talking about online transaction apps, there are a lot of cases of fraud coming up. The same case is with Paytm.

See, mostly a fraud cannot take place with you until you are careful and follow simple rules while using online transaction apps such as Paytm. Follow the below rules to transact safely and prevent yourself from any fraudster that might be waiting for you....

  1. Download the authentic Paytm app:

The first thing that you should ensure while starting to use Paytm, is to download the official Paytm app either from the Play Store or App Store. This is one of the most important steps to be insured first because there are many fraud apps there out on the internet which has to build an app whose interface might match the interface of the official Paytm app, to cheat people (but there is, of course, some difference between them).

To ensure that you have downloaded the authentic Paytm app. If you are an Android user then click on this link to download Paytm Paytm App for Android. If you are an iOS user then click on this link to download Paytm Paytm App for iOS. If you have already downloaded the app then also click on these link to check whether you are using the authentic Paytm app (if you have downloaded the authentic Paytm app then the download page should show downloaded).

  2. Use password for your app as well as phone:

This step will ensure that no one is able to get access to your app without your permission as well as no one can transfer money from your wallet without your knowledge. For this, you need to first set a password for your phone from your phone's settings. Once you've done with that then go to Paytm app and click on My Security Settings > Manage App Lock > Secure access to Paytm and set your password.

  3. Prefer using Quick Response (QR) Code:

When accepting or paying money through Paytm, prefer using QR code as they being unique and encrypted provide more security for the transaction.

  4. Recharge your wallet carefully:

While loading money in your wallet doesn't save your card details. This might sound inconvenient but its better than being trapped in a fraud.

  5. Limit money in your wallet:

Avoid keeping large sums of money in your wallet because if your Paytm account gets hacked all your money will be lost in just a flash. It is important because cases do have come of Paytm accounts getting hacked, hence, keep small amounts of money in your Paytm Wallet.

  6. Verify your email and be alert:

Verifying your email is very important when it comes to Paytm. It is because Paytm can contact you through your email and SMS only and it sends all information about your new transactions through your these. In case you didn't do any transaction and received an email about it you can immediately contact Paytm about it.

Conclusion

So while using Paytm or any other online transaction app you should keep in mind these basic guidelines which would protect you from getting trapped by a fraudster. Becoming digital brings opportunities as well as comfort but it also expects us to be more careful.

If you follow the above-discussed guidelines you are unlikely to fall prey to any fraudster.

I hope this post helped you. I had a question "Is keeping your money online safe enough in India?" If you think yes leave a comment with 'Yes' or if no leave a comment with 'No'. Eagerly waiting for your reply. So, goodbye and meet you again in another interesting post.
